Kate Middleton’s Royal Wedding Cake

Wedding Advice, Ideas and Tips from TheRingBearer.ca

Royal Wedding Cake

The wedding cake and a chocolate biscuit cake will also be served at the Reception. The wedding cake, designed by Fiona Cairns, is made from 17 individual fruit cakes (12 of which form the base) and has eight tiers. The cake has been decorated with cream and white icing using the Joseph Lambeth technique. There are up to 900 individually iced flowers and leaves of 17 different varieties decorated on the cake. A garland design around the middle of the cake matches the architectural garlands decorated around the top of the Picture Gallery in Buckingham Palace, the room in which the cake will be displayed. The chocolate biscuit cake was created by Mcvitie’s Cake Company using a Royal Family recipe at the special request of Prince William.

The Middleton’s Family Jewels for the Royal Wedding Day

The Middletons had jewellery commissioned with meaning for Kate’s wedding day!

Wedding Advice, Planning and Ideas from TheRingBearer.ca

Kate Middleton EarringsInspired by the family’s new coat of arms and wanting to give their daughter, Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, a unique wedding present from them, the Middleton parents, Michael and Carole commissioned Robinson Pelham, a very discreet but well established London, England-based jeweller to create a gift for her.

Robinson Pelham, created a diamond set of earrings styled to look like oak leaves with a pear shaped diamond drop earring and a pave set diamond acorn suspended in the centre.

Inspiration for the design came from the family’s new coat of arms which includes acorns and oak leaves. The earrings were also made to echo the tiara Kate Middleton would be wearing at the wedding.Pippa Middleton Earrings

Robinson Pelham also designed and made a pair of diamond earrings for Miss Philippa Middleton, Kate’s sister and maid-of-honour.

These earrings are more floral in nature to complement her headpiece worn during the wedding ceremony.

A tourmaline and diamond pendant and matching earrings were also designed and made for the Mother-of-the-bride, Carole Middleton.
And for the Middleton men, Pelham designed two gold stick pins, one with a single gold acorn at the head and the other with an oak leaf, worn by Michael Middleton, father of the bride, and the bride’s brother, James Middleton

Wedding Hair Options

Wedding Hair posts by WeddingHair.com

Your wedding hair options go beyond the traditional veil. Every bride should feel completely comfortable with their wedding day look and just because a veil is traditional, doesn’t mean you have to wear one. So for a bride who doesn’t want to wear a veil on her wedding day, here are a few other wedding hair options.

  • Fresh, silk or paper flowers – they can make a beautiful statement.

Craft stores have a variety of options that you can work with, the selections are large in bigger stores. Some craft stores might even have flowers meant to use in your hair with bobbyt pins, wires, elastics or headbands already attached. Ask your florist for inspiration.

  • Ribbons

Ribbons are a simple way to add something to your wedding hair look. A soft blue ribbon used as a headband would be a perfect “something” blue. Ribbons are a delicate touch.

  • Jewels, Pearls and Crystals

There is plenty of hair jewelery available to choose from – clusters of pearls, jewels, crystals and other beading can be sporadically added to an updo to add some sparkle to your wedding hair look.

  • Make your own accessories

If you have any vintage pieces like a broach or pendant, picking up some bobby pins and craft glue you can make your own, personalized wedding hair accessories. Don’t be afraid to experiment – you might be able to remaster something beautifully.

Anita and Steven Engagement Photos

Anita shares her story of how Steven proposed …

“Steven and I have done a fair amount of travelling since we started dating three and a half years ago.We usually plan our travel together, but this time he had taken the initiative to plan a surprise trip for us to Niagara on the Lake over the weekend, in mid-February 2010. As soon as we arrived, Steven had taken me to my very first nail manicure treatment at the hotel spa.It was so nice of him to be there with me while I was getting pampered!

After my spa session, we settled into our room at the Shaw Club. The deluxe room was an absolute surprise! The décor was so beautiful and the room was so comfortable. Not to mention, the furnace was perfect for keeping us warm during the cold wintery weather!

Since Steven takes up photography as a hobby, he naturally suggested walking around town to take some photos together. We had lots of fun taking photos around the area and it was nice to stop for some fudge as well.

Soon enough, I was feeling pretty tired, so we headed back to the hotel to rest and freshen up.Steven had reserved a romantic dinner for us at the Charles Inn. The restaurant was cozy and intimate and the food was exquisite! It was truly one of the nicest meals we have ever had together. As we left the restaurant, I was concentrated on not letting my stiletto heels sink into the damp mud on the outside pathway. All of a sudden, Steven interrupted my thoughts by taking my hand to lead me to the porch right outside the Inn. The porch was lit just bright enough for me to see that he was getting down on one knee to propose! After I had said, “Yes!” he suggested we re-enact the proposal so we could capture it on camera. We ended up going back and forth, taking 5 shots to get the perfect one!Even though the picture didn’t capture the actual proposal, it was great to be proposed to 5 times!”

Proposal Story: Minoli and Harsha

Wedding Engagement Shoot

Minoli and Harsha Engagement Photos

Minoli shares her story of how Harsha proposed…

“Our story is a tale of two friends who turn into lovers … Isn’t love great when you fall in love with your best friend?

Harsha and I met in spring of 1996, he was a young boy at the age of 16 and I was little shy girl at the age of 13. As the years passed we became best friends. In 2003 we realized that there was an unspoken love, beyond friendship, that we both shared and we decided to pursue a relationship. In the beginning, we weren’t sure where this love was heading, but as time passed, we soon realized that we were a perfect fit.

After 7 years of dating we decided in April of 2010 we wanted to get engaged. Both of us are have Sri Lankan backgrounds and there are certain Sri Lankan wedding traditions we follow for an engagement. On June 17th 2010, we decided to take our engagement photos in Yorkville. After our photo shoot we had dinner at Sassafraz and took a walk in Yorkville Park. As we sat on a rock, under a starry sky, Harsha decided to pop the question right there, he got down on one knee and asked, “Will You Marry Me”… I excitedly answered YES!

Saturday June 26th 2010 was our engagement ceremony and party. That day was when he officially gave me the ring; we celebrated with our family and friends. The evening was filled with laughter and love.   The best part of our love story is that we both get to marry our best friend.”

Proposal Story: Anna and Andrew

Wedding Engagement Shoot

Anna and Andrew Engagement Photos

Anna shares her story of how Andrew proposed…

“I knew Andrew was the one for me right from the start. Within a couple months of dating, we discussed the details of our wedding that we knew would certainly happen. We even discussed how he would propose. I made sure he knew I wanted it to be spontaneous, for him to wait for just the right moment. I didn’t want one of those Valentine’s Day, birthday or Christmas proposals. It just had to be the perfect moment, and it was.

The proposal happened when we were just hanging out at home on a Saturday evening. He was watching T.V, I was reading a book. Andrew must have been praying to the ‘hydro gods’, because all of a sudden, the lights went out … no power at all! We lit some candles, sat on the couch together and just talked for awhile. After almost an hour of no electricity, Andrew said he was going downstairs to get a deck of cards so we could pass the time. When he came back up the stairs, he stopped in the kitchen, just out of my line of sight. I was a little confused when he called me over but I got up anyway. Just as I reached the doorway, he came around the corner and immediately got down on one knee. I barely remember what he was saying as I stood in the middle of the living room floor, surrounded by candlelight. I was crying, and he had to ask me again after he had put ring on my finger if I had said yes! The timing and the romantic setting were a complete fluke and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
